California Transparency in Supply Chains Act
lia sophia has always taken care to partner with responsible manufacturers who adhere to sound labor practices and maintain safe, productive work environments for their employees. On January 2012, lia sophia increased its commitment to ensuring its supply chain is free from worker exploitation by adopting the lia sophia Code of Conduct for Suppliers. The Code of Conduct formally requires lia sophia Suppliers (i.e. manufacturers) to treat their employees with dignity and respect. This means Suppliers must now certify they are providing employees with a safe and healthy work environment; that they are paying employees fair wages; and are prohibiting child and involuntary labor. Suppliers must also certify that those providing materials incorporated into lia sophia products comply with the lia sophia Code of Conduct. To ensure compliance, lia sophia has trained its supply chain management on the perils of human trafficking and slavery and on how to mitigate the risks of these activities within the supply chain. Further, lia sophia will engage in monitoring activities including unannounced, on-site inspections of manufacturing facilities, employer-provided housing and employment-related documents and will take swift and appropriate action against any Supplier who fails to meet lia sophia standards.

Packaging and Shipping
The packaging foam we currently use in boxes that contain our jewelry greatly helps minimize our carbon footprint with the following:
* The use of natural and renewable raw materials
* All foam is 100% recyclable utilizing recycled CO2 technology
* Larger use of chemicals from natural/renewable sources in North America
* No OZONE depleting chemicals
* Hybrid foams using soybean by-product
The air pillow packaging not only protects our jewelry the best, but it's also a far more environmentally friendly solution than packing peanuts or paper-fillers. The air pillows consist of 99% air and 1% film. They are clean, free of dust, reusable and recyclable.
Shipping cartons are certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and are labeled with their tagline, "Good for you. Good for our forests." This lets consumers know that the fiber in the product comes from pre- or post-consumer recycled content or from a certified forest. All fiber is from non-controversial sources.
Our corporate offices participate in several local recycling programs. We recycle all office paper, aluminum cans, clear plastic materials, and cardboard.
Whenever possible, we encourage all lia sophia Advisors, Hostesses and Customers to recycle the packing and shipping materials and envelopes through their local recycling initiatives.
